Hallmarket Notebooklet Review & Giveaway

Hallmarket Notebooklet

Back in September, Hallmark Cards Inc. hosted its third annual Hallmarket. It is a chance for all the artists and staff at the company to sell their personal creations, from paintings and prints to jewelry, clothing, accessories, home furnishings and toys. It is a dizzying array of products and if you are in or near Kansas City, this is not an event to miss if you like handcrafted goods. Spotted this year perusing the wares was a member of the Kansas City Sporting soccer team and members of the local press — both shopping and reporting.

But the point of all this is that this year, to commemorate the event, Maura Cluthe and Stacey Lamb collaborated to create the first ever limited edition Hallmarket notebooklet. This is a small notebook the size of a Field Notes with chipboard cardstock covers printed with one of Maura’s hyperdoodles in black ink. Each book is signed and numbered and comes with a postcard from the event and a button badge. I believe they used Pinball Publishing‘s Scout Books.

The paper inside is a blank, crisp white, 70lb, 100% recycled paper for sketching or writing and the paper withstood just about every tool I threw at it. There was a little show through with the permanent pens (like a Sharpie Pen, Le Pen Permanent and the like) but otherwise the paper performed very well.

  1. I have never seen those before! I’d love one. And my fun fact about Kansas City is that they have more barbecue restaurants per capita than any other city.

  2. Nice little book, fun fact kansas has been twinned with Seville in Spain since 1967, you know Seville where the oranges for marmalade come from, the marmalade that Paddington bear eats!

  3. Kansas City — the home for many artists and Hallmark, too. Best of all, KC has wonderful knitters and friends!!

  4. That is a really cool notebook. I live in Shetland in the UK and it would take me about 12 hours to get to Kansas City from here, but unbeknown to my family, there is a secret door at the back of my wardrobe that I can walk through and instantly appear in Kansas City.

  5. Common denominator between Kansas City and my own Dallas/Fort Worth – Kessler Parks!

The notebook is really nice πŸ™‚

  6. I found out about Hallmarket after it happened last year and was bummed that I missed it. I’m planning to attend this year. Fun Kansas City Fact: the Country Club Plaza holiday lights started from a 16-light strand in 1925 to more than 80 miles of wires and 280,000 lights today.

  7. That notebook is pretty darn cute. Kansas City is home to the Royals, who have not won a World Series in my lifetime.

  8. This is a true fact about Hallmark, which is headquartered in Kansas City: the company gives one-month “sabbaticals” to employees, for them to pursue art or other projects. Admittedly, the “sabbatical” is spent onsite, but it still sounds like a cool idea.

  9. Awesome notebook, thanks for the opportunity to win it. Kansas City fact Arthur Bryants BBQ restaurant opened in 1958.

  10. They’re so adorable! I’ve never been to Kansas City, but I do peruse Hallmark stores. I love trying out new notebooks, this would be great!

  11. I love the notebook (and I loved the Hallmarket, even if I was only able to catch the very tail end of it).

My KC fact: The mayor, Sly James, uses a Pilot Varisty!

  12. Such a cute notebook. As for facts about KC…Ikea is coming! I am so excited. It will be the closest one to me!
